The olive tree has been cherished for thousands of years, not only for its fruit and oil but also for its deep symbolic meaning. It has played an important role in history, faith, and tradition.

In the Bible, the olive tree is a powerful symbol of peace, faith, and divine presence. One of its most famous mentions is in the story of Noah, when a dove returned with an olive branch, signaling the end of the flood. The tree is also found in the construction of Solomon’s Temple and is referenced throughout both the Old and New Testaments as a sign of prosperity, mercy, and blessing.

The Mount of Olives, covered in these ancient trees, was a place where Jesus prayed, taught his followers, and entered Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. It was also in the Garden of Gethsemane, beneath these very branches, that he experienced his moment of agony before his crucifixion.

Today, some of these trees in the Garden of Gethsemane are believed to be over 2,300 years old. Olive trees continue to thrive in the Holy Land, particularly around Bethlehem, where their wood is carefully pruned and crafted into beautiful handmade items, preserving a tradition that has lasted for centuries.
